Purpose

The KE-396JC automatic edge banding machine is designed for banding profiled edges of furniture components and workpieces with synthetic roll-fed materials using the softforming method. The machine supports four profile types.

  • The machine is equipped with two liquid application units:
  1. The first unit applies release agent through two nozzles located before the workpiece pre-milling unit. A special release agent prevents protruding adhesive residues from adhering to the workpiece.
  2. The second unit applies polishing fluid through two nozzles located before the buffing unit. The cleaning fluid removes the release agent applied at the beginning of the process and any loose adhesive residues. It also adds gloss to the finished edge of the workpiece.

Engineering advantages

PC for machine control
The machine is controlled using an industrial PC with a touch-screen interface. The icons for switching units and assemblies on and off are intuitive and require no special skills to operate the machine.
Programming processing pauses
Glue pot heating pauses can be programmed.
Automatic workpiece spacing device
The workpiece feed spacing device maintains the minimum distance between workpieces, preventing damage to the machine units during operation.
Edge profile milling unit
The workpiece edge profile milling unit is equipped with two milling motors. The cutter height and position are adjusted by servo motors.
Processing profile changeover
The processing profile is changed from the control panel at the touch of a button by servo-controlled adjustment of the profile cutter height relative to the workpiece.
Workpiece edge heating lamp
The heating lamp heats the workpiece edge before application of the edge band, improving bonding quality.
Edge-band grooving unit
The edge-band grooving unit creates a groove on the inner side of the edge band, allowing it to bend during application.
Pressure roller unit
Servo-controlled pressure roller unit switch precisely between processing profiles at the touch of a button. Several heating lamps and a hot-air blower are used to heat and soften the edge band.
Additional pressure rollers
Additional upper and lower pressure rollers press the edge band against the workpiece when processing different profiles.
Upper glue pot
Upper quick-change glue pot for EVA/PUR adhesive with a non-stick coating is installed on the pressure roller unit.
End trimming unit
The end trimming unit is equipped with two high-frequency motors. The saw units travel along special linear guides. The unit is equipped with an automatic guide lubrication system.
Edge trimming unit
The edge trimming unit consists of two high-frequency motors equipped with radius cutters for processing edge bands with a thickness of 0.5–0.8 mm. The workpiece is tracked by two large circular copy wheels mounted on a floating unit, one on each motor. This design prevents defects during trimming.
Lower scraping unit
The lower scraping unit removes marks left by other tools and improves the processing quality.
Glue scraping unit
The flat scraping unit is equipped with four straight carbide blades that process the edge band where it meets the workpiece. This operation removes excess adhesive and minor surface irregularities along the glue joints.
Buffing unit
The buffing unit polishes the processed section of the edge band. High-quality finishing is achieved by an oscillation system driven by pneumatic cylinders. A polishing-fluid application unit provides the edge band with a final gloss.
Heavy-duty machine frame
The edge banding machine frame is built as a rigid box structure with the necessary reinforcing ribs, ensuring precise positioning of all units throughout the machine's service life.
Encoder
The encoder on the pressure beam lifting/lowering mechanism automatically positions the beam according to the workpiece thickness set on the control panel.
Centralized lubrication
The centralized lubrication unit automatically lubricates the guides of the end trimming unit.
Electrical components
The electrical components comply with CE requirements.
Sound insulation
The machine cabin doors are lined with a layer of polyurethane foam sound insulation, providing comfortable operating conditions.
